Competitor Teardown Template

A 90-minute teardown protocol plus one fully worked fictional example. You leave with three landing-page sentences and a do-not-copy list — not a clone map.
Ground rules
- Public pages only. No fake accounts against terms. No scraping private data.
- One primary competitor. Giants are usually the wrong target for a $9–$49 SKU.
- 90 minutes, then decide. Output is three original sentences.
The protocol (summary)
- Name the buyer you can already reach this month.
- Paraphrase the rival’s first screen; do not paste their copy.
- Log proof that is on the page. Write “none shown” when true.
- Time your first win or label the number unverified.
- Ship exactly three gaps. Write a three-line do-not-copy list.
Example snapshot (fictional)
QuietHour (one-page deep-work ritual) vs DeskPing (browser pings). Gap: buyers who will not install another focus app. First win: 7-minute printed ritual, no account. No MRR figures. These brands do not exist.
