# Hiring Scorecard (first operator / contractor)

**SKU:** `hiring-scorecard`
**Price:** $15 USD, paid in USDC on Base
**Format:** Role one-pager + scored work-sample + debrief sheet + fictional round
**Audience:** English-speaking indie founders and tiny B2B teams hiring **one** contractor or first operator. Not an enterprise ATS. **Not legal advice** (employment law differs by country).

Prefers a paid work sample over culture-fit theater. Does not tell you to blast job ads at scraped emails. Does not promise A-players or revenue from hiring. No $5k claims.

---

## What you get

1. Role card (outcomes, not adjectives).
2. Must / nice / never grid.
3. Work-sample brief you can pay for (money, not exposure).
4. Scorecard used by every interviewer the same way.
5. Fictional round: **Oakline Press** hiring a 10-hour/week fulfillment operator.

---

## 0. Role card (write before you talk to anyone)

**Title you will actually use:** `________________________________`
**Hours / week (honest):** `________________________________`
**Pay range you will state out loud:** `________________________________`
**Contract vs employment (check local rules):** `________________________________`
**Start window:** `________________________________`

**Outcomes in 30 days (observable):**
1. `________________________________`
2. `________________________________`
3. `________________________________`

If you cannot name pay, you are browsing, not hiring.

---

## 1. Must / nice / never

| | List |
|---|---|
| Must (disqualify if missing) | |
| Nice (do not pretend these are musts) | |
| Never (deal-breakers you will not coach out) | |

Do not list hunger or rockstar. Those are not observables.

---

## 2. Sourcing (allowed)

Your own audience, referrals from people who know the work, a public post on a channel you own, a job board listing fee.

Do not scrape LinkedIn and sequence 200 strangers. Do not ask candidates to recruit their coworkers into your funnel.

---

## 3. Work sample (paid)

Time-box: 60-90 minutes. Pay a stated amount even if you do not hire them.

```
Context: [one paragraph]
Artifact: [what they return]
Constraints: [tools, tone, time]
Example input: [anonymized real or clearly fictional]
Due: [date]
Pay: [amount] via [method] regardless of hire
```

Do not use the sample as free production work you will ship to customers.

---

## 4. Scorecard (0-2 each). Same sheet for every candidate.

| Signal | 0 | 1 | 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Artifact matches brief | missing | partial | usable |
| Followed constraints | ignored | mixed | yes |
| Writing/tone to a customer | rude or vague | OK | clear |
| Questions they asked | none when blocked | some | precise Q |
| Time honesty | vanished | late with no note | on time or dated delay |
| Fit to must-list | fail | unknown | pass |

**Max 12.** Decide threshold before you meet anyone (suggested: 8 to interview, 10 to hire). Notes must cite the artifact, not energy.

---

## 5. Live conversation (25 minutes, after the sample)

5 min they walk through the artifact. 10 min a real messy case (anonymized). 5 min hours, pay, tools. 5 min their questions. No brainteasers.

---

## 6. Decision mail

Hire: pay, hours, start, first 14 days outcomes. Reply yes/no by date.
No: thank you for the sample (paid on date). I will not keep you on a talent community list unless you ask.

---

## 7. Fictional round — Oakline Press

**Fictional.** Need someone to verify Base tx hashes and send zips 10h/week at a stated hourly rate. Work sample: three fictional orders (underpay, wrong chain, clean). Pay: a flat $40. Candidate A scored 11. Candidate B scored 6. Hired A. Did not post we are scaling to $5k weeks.

---

## Anti-list

- [ ] Unpaid trial week doing live support
- [ ] Ghosting after a sample
- [ ] Changing pay after they said yes
- [ ] Discriminatory filters (illegal in many places — get local advice)
